Dark House Welcomes Ella Croft
16 October 2026

Sometimes a novel begins with a single question. For Ella Croft, it was a conversation with her daughter about superpowers — and the answer, “I’d have a thousand powers!”, became the seed of a story that would eventually grow into A Girl with Power.
Set two hundred years into the future, A Girl with Power imagines a Britain shaped by climate damage, extreme inequality and a society in which extraordinary abilities are both feared and exploited. At the centre of the novel is seventeen-year-old Amelia Dawson, a young woman forced to navigate a world controlled by billionaire elites while concealing powers of her own.
What began as an idea about superpowers developed into a broader exploration of power, privilege, identity and resistance. Ella’s fiction is particularly interested in human-centred stories within dystopian landscapes, with a strong emphasis on flawed characters, emotional stakes and the bonds of found family.
Dark House will represent Ella Croft and A Girl with Power across publishing and associated rights, and we are very pleased to welcome her to the agency.
