Ella Croft is a UK-based debut author writing character-driven dystopian fiction set in imagined futures shaped by climate change, inequality and the bonds of found family.
Biography
From an early age, Ella dreamed of becoming an author, never quite convinced it would become a reality. She began writing after a chance conversation with her daughter about superpowers sparked an idea that refused to disappear.
Her debut novel, A Girl with Power, grew from a simple question: if you could have any superpower, which one would it be? The answer — “I’d have a thousand powers!” — became the seed of a story set two hundred years in the future, where social inequality is extreme and climate damage has become part of everyday life.
That early idea developed into a character-driven dystopian story concerned with power, inequality and the pressures of living within a damaged future society. Ella is particularly interested in human-centred narratives within dystopian landscapes, compelling plots and the comfort of found family.

Two hundred years into the future, Britain has been reshaped by climate damage and extreme inequality. Ordinary people survive on time-limited credits and synthetic food while billionaire dynasties — known as the Billiards — use superpowered individuals to protect their wealth and suppress their rivals.
Seventeen-year-old Amelia Dawson despises the system they have created, but her mother has spent Amelia’s entire life hiding a dangerous secret: they have powers too. As Amelia’s abilities become harder to conceal, she must decide whether to repress who she is or risk everything to challenge the world the Billiards have built.
