When lifelong friends Kevin and Barry lose their call-centre jobs, a suspiciously well-paid gardening contract seems like an unlikely answer to their problems: ten days clearing the grounds of an abandoned mansion on a remote Scottish island.

Armed with bargain-bin gardening tools, a barely roadworthy van and considerably more confidence than expertise, the pair head north with a hastily assembled workforce. But when the tidal causeway leaves them stranded overnight, the crumbling mansion becomes their only refuge — and it soon becomes clear that the island has been abandoned for a reason.

What begins as an ill-advised get-rich-quick scheme descends into a fight for survival against something monstrous lurking in the woods. Mixing creature-feature horror, action and irreverent northern humour, Only Fools and Corpses is a darkly comic survival story about friendship, bad decisions and discovering that even the most ridiculous threat becomes considerably less funny when it wants to eat you.
